Lommel SK suffers another defeat in second match of 2025Wedstrijd - Verslag29 janLommel SK has failed to secure any points in their second match of 2025. Despite a storming start at their own Soevereinstadion, Ryan Garry’s team ultimately came up short once more. Royal Francs Borains managed to take all three points from Lommel for the first time in a very long time. Lommel SK started the match against Royal Francs Borains with a significantly altered lineup compared to the game against RFC Liège. Ryan Garry was forced to make changes due to the ineligibility of Joey Pelupessy and the injury of Lucas Schoofs in the previous match. Among others, Danny McGrath was given the opportunity to step in, making his first start for Groen-Wit. Additionally, Sam De Grand, Jesper Tolinsson, and the returning Jason van Duiven—back from suspension—were also included in the starting eleven.
LSK started aggressively in their second home match in three days. Within just five minutes, this approach led to a huge chance for Jason van Duiven. The Dutchman skillfully flicked the ball on with his head, but it narrowly missed the target. However, the opening goal did arrive just a few minutes later. After a foul on the edge of the penalty area, Diego Rosa had the chance to take aim. His free kick was struck with too much power and precision for the Hainaut goalkeeper to stop: 1-0!
After the goal, the match lost much of its intensity. The pitch, which had suffered heavily during Sunday’s match against RFC Liège, played a role in this decline. The visitors struggled to create any real danger in the first half-hour. The only moment of concern for Nikola Ivezic came when a header flew well over the crossbar. Around ten minutes before halftime, however, our goalkeeper was truly called into action. Mondy Prunier created space for himself and took a shot, but Ivezic—helped slightly by the post—managed to keep it out.
It proved to be merely a delay of the inevitable, as just a few minutes later, Royal Francs Borains found the net. A long ball over the Lommel defense was expertly finished with a lob by Alessio Curci: 1-1. And it didn’t stop there—the visitors suddenly began to play much better than LSK. In the first of three minutes of added time, they nearly grabbed a second goal. Following an excellent through ball, Prunier’s shot went just wide. No more goals were scored before the break, meaning both teams went into halftime with the score level at 1-1.

Late Setback
The second half began with unchanged lineups. It was the visitors who immediately seized the initiative. LSK struggled to cope with this shift, leading to two quick yellow cards. Diego Rosa and Leon Lalic both found themselves booked within a span of two minutes.
Despite this, Ryan Garry’s team came closest to scoring the next goal. Once again, Diego Rosa tried his luck from a free kick, but this time, goalkeeper Gies was well-positioned to make the save. Moments later, Yvann Titi attempted a well-executed dropkick, but his effort missed the target.
After 72 minutes, interim head coach Ryan Garry made his first substitutions. Sam De Grand and Alvaro Santos made way for Jhon Banguera and Josias Lama. Even after these changes, Royal Francs Borains remained the more attacking side. Their dominance finally paid off five minutes before full-time when Mondy Prunier capitalized on a chaotic moment in front of Lommel’s goal, sending the ball past Ivezic for 1-2.
Ryan Garry reacted immediately, replacing Diego Rosa and Leon Lalic with Ibrahima Kebe and Letsosa Tsoanelo. However, these last-minute tactical changes failed to turn the tide. LSK was unable to mount any real pressure in the closing minutes, ultimately suffering another home defeat.
LSK's next match is on Saturday, February 1st, when Groen-Wit will travel to KAS Eupen. A mandatory travel arrangement has been imposed, requiring all Lommel supporters to make the journey by bus. Fans can register for the bus trip through one of our supporters' clubs. Tickets for the match are available at tickets.lommelsk.be.Delen op
