In the summer of 2023, Dermane Karim arrived at Lommel from Feyenoord’s youth academy, where he had already made his debut for the first team in the Eredivisie. Over the past year and a half, the midfielder has become a standout player and a true fan favorite.

Now, a year and a half later, the club is supporting Karim's long-held desire to play at the highest level. Lommel SK's sporting director, James McCarron, explained the decision: “Dermane Karim has performed at an incredibly high level with us over the past year and a half. It’s no surprise that he’s eager to take the next step in his career.”

"We would like to respond positively to Dermane's request to play at Kortrijk in 1A in the coming months. We see this step as an opportunity for Dermane to continue developing at a higher level. We will present a replacement in the short term. The entire club wishes him the best of luck at the KV Kortrijk and in 1A!"

Dermane Karim himself is also very happy with the opportunity he is getting: "I felt ready for a new challenge and am very grateful to Lommel SK for giving me this opportunity. There is a great challenge waiting for me at KV Kortrijk, and I intend to seize it with both hands. I wish my teammates at Lommel SK the best of luck for the rest of the season!"
