Matthias comes from Oudsbergen and is therefore a 'real Limburger'. After his period in the youth of Lommel SK, he left for the youth of RSC Anderlecht in 2017. In 2020, he returned to Limburg and joined KRC Genk's u15 team. There, Matthias went through the rest of his youth series. Last season, he made his debut with Jong Genk and was also part of the first team. In addition, our new 1m95 goalkeeper is also part of the under-18 squad of the Belgian national team.
Matthias is happy to be back in his old nest: "I obviously know Lommel from the past, but it's incredible how professional this club has become. This also made me choose Lommel. The combination of being an ambitious club and also creating a real family feeling makes Lommel unique. I am looking forward to working hard in preparation to make our goals clear from the start next season."
Sporting Director James McCarron: “Bringing top Belgian talent to Lommel is special but particularly special when we bring someone back who was originally in the club. Matthias rejoins us from Genk after originally being in our Academy here in Lommel. We are incredibly excited that Matthias has decided to join us and we believe he has huge potential and we look forward to seeing him grown and development back here in Lommel."
Matthias, welcome back to Lommel.
